Due to the exceptional circumstances stemming from the Covid-19 outbreak and the unprecedented pressures on local and national supply chains, the Department authorised a general temporary relaxation of the enforcement of both the EU and GB domestic drivers’ hours rules, for drivers undertaking carriage of goods by road in England; Scotland and Wales, from 23 March to 31 May 2020.
Following a recent review of the current evidence, the Department has decided not to extend the relaxation of the EU drivers’ hours rules; which will end at 23:59 on Sunday 31 May 2020.
The relaxation of the GB domestic drivers’ hours rules will continue until 23:59 on Sunday 14 June 2020. This continued relaxation will remain under review.
