Integration Plan Announcement – CIWM and WAMITAB – 22.07.2020

As Chris James, steps down from his role as Chief Executive Officer for WAMITAB, the awarding body for qualifications in the resource and waste sector, the Chartered Institution of Waste Management (CIWM) announce the integration of WAMITAB more closely into CIWM. During the transition WAMITAB will continue to operate as usual with no change in the immediate term to any of the qualifications or services offered by WAMITAB and they will continue to be and End Point Assessment Organisation for apprenticeships.

CIWM Members Webinar – Re-opening & safe operation of HWRC’s during COVID – Monday 18 May, 3pm to 4pm

With local authorities asked by Government to prioritise re-opening household waste recycling sites, the focus now is on how to plan and prepare to ensure that HWRC capacity can safely and efficiently be brought back online. Prevention of scald injuries

Please find attached information initiated from Bristol University relating to a campaign on the prevention of scald injuries from hot drinks.  The campaign is being launched on National Burns Awareness Day on 16th October and calls for Ambassadors: please seek further information via their website at www.safetea.org.uk

SQA confirmation of extension of 1 year to waste qualification

As advised t use by the SQA, please note that the current Waste Qualifications listed below have been extended for one year.  This means the Lapsing date will now be 31.07.2020 for all Waste Qualifications.  Finish date for SCQF Level 5 will be 2022 and for SCQF Level 6 and 7 a finish date of 2024.
