The government, in consultation with industry, has produced guidance to help ensure workplaces are as safe as possible.

These 8 guides cover a range of different types of work. Many businesses operate more than one type of workplace, such as an office, factory and fleet of vehicles. You may need to use more than one of these guides as you think through what you need to do to keep people safe.

  1. Construction and other outdoor work
  2. Factories, plants and warehouses
  3. Labs and research facilities
  4. Office and contact centres
  5. Other people’s homes
  6. Restaurants offering takeaway or delivery
  7. Shops and branches
  8. Vehicles

This webinar, for CIWM Members, will assess the latest guidance and thinking across the sector, explore the planning, operational and health and safety considerations involved, and share lessons learned from those who are already in the process of re-opening sites in some capacity. On the day of its 75-year anniversary, IOSH has set out its policy position on supporting the OSH profession during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Our forum member, Public Health Scotland, have provided the following advice and guidance in relation to the COVID-19 situation, specifically regarding Healthy Working Lives (HWL) support.

Healthy Working Lives now have a web page devoted to Covid19 issues, the intention is not to reproduce information but to capture and redirect to key Government and other recognised sites.  The topics covered are  based on the enquiries coming through the HWL advice line and include Furloughing staff, mental health advice during lockdown and PPE.

Another emerging piece of work will look at how to deal with a gradual return to work and in particular social distancing at work. First guidance will be based on the standard information provided at the time, and HWL will then look to offer support to individual sectors on how they do it in practice given their particular work circumstances.
